A little laugh for my fellow chronic illness warriors

img_1822

I know some close friends who also suffer will get a chuckle out of this…sadly, because it’s true! When I wake up in the morning it takes me 2-3 hours to get the energy and pain relief to shower. Then once I’m showered I have to rest before actually getting ready, so I’ll throw some PJs on or my clothes for the day, go rest, and come back to finish when my body allows. Some days are better than others. Hence why you’ll normally find me showering at odd times like 1, 3 and 5 in the afternoon. And, if I’m not leaving the house that day, sometimes I won’t shower to save myself that energy for something else. You gotta do what you gotta do!

  1. this is true for those with mental illness disability as well. When in a low mood, depressive, it can become overwhelming to even consider a shower, much less all the dressing and lotioning after. for me, it exhausts me to do my hair, with my arms up. i use a shower chair so i don’t fall. i don’t have a physical illness, just my mental illness can affect me so i have no energy, strength, stamina, etc, and chores like this are just so hard because of that.
